Production Diary Eight

Throughout the last few blog posts, we have updated our Props List alongside with a Lyric Analysis and a Copyright letter. The lyric analysis helped us with our narrative contribution, depicting specific words and their connotations. Whereas by doing a copyright letter, it put our group in a position to gain permission, from the initial institution whom distributed the song 'James Arthur - Get Down', for us to have the privilege of using their song.

Furthermore we held artist auditions, to see who'd be the best suited for the role; Marcus Matthews. After discussing the positives and negatives of each performer, we agreed as a group to enrol Performer Two (Audition Two).

Audition Three

Evidently from Will lip syncing, we are able to see his lack of confidence and enthusiasm due to his strong reluctance in  body movement, facial expression and poor exaggeration on specific lyrics. In addition, Will's whole audition had him looking directly at the floor, seamlessly preventing the audience from ever being able to engage with the artist of which is imperative as it allows them to connect with the artist emotionally.

Audition Two

This audition was the last of the three to participate in an attempt to gain the role of the protagonist in the music video. Evident from the audition, it is clear that the way in which i presented myself was wth confidence as i managed to spend the majority of my eye contact engaged with the camera. In addition to this, enthusiasm can be seen through the efforts of learning the lyrics.

Audition One

This is Jamie's audition for 'James Arthur - Get Down'. He is filmed lip syncing hook one from the song. It is evident from the footage that he's lip syncing sometimes did not match up to the beat of the song. Jamie is able to indicate to us that he lacked confidence in performing due to his inability t engage with the camera for long periods of time. Despite this, from an audience point of view, they would get the impression that Jamie wasn't willingly wanting to be involved in the production as the protagonist.

Auditions

Throughout our music video, there is solely one character; Marcus Matthews. In order for us to choose the best suited for the role, we held auditions. The auditions consisted of recognising the performers lip syncing skills.

Below are listed the lyrics in which were performed:

(0:42-0:52)
"I could draw you a picture
I could write all my fears
I could read you a scripture of tears"

Props List

Props listOutfits - This includes;
  • Black Hoody
  • Navy Bomber Jacket
  • Blue Jeans
  • White Trainers
After looking into numerous Pop artists it has been proved to shown that each artist follows the generic conventional style of Pop yet every individual artist clothing differs. Therefore we have chosen this style of theme as it allows our artist to be portrayed as original and fashionable, whilst following the conventions, but also gives our artist the ability suit the current up to date trends.
